Who Got a Deal on Shark Tank Season 17, Episode 4

Recap

The Verdict

Three deals in four pitches, headlined by a guest shark who rewrote his own offer mid-negotiation and a founder who walked away from $500,000 over half a percent.

Alexis Ohanian's first full episode in the Tank set the tone for the night: founders with cold numbers and confident valuations got rewarded, and the one who wouldn't bend on equity walked out empty-handed. Three of the four companies left with a deal.

The headliner was RetrievAir, a pet-first charter airline that flies dogs in the cabin next to their owners. Founders Mark Williams, an aviation veteran who built and sold Sunwing Airlines, and Benton Miller entered dressed as pilots and reported $550,000 in ticket sales with triple-digit month-over-month growth. The burn rate scared off Kendra Scott and Lori Greiner and made Daymond John withdraw an offer, but Kevin O'Leary bid $500,000 for 20% and Alexis countered at 15%, then bumped his own number to $776,000, a wink at his Seven Seven Six venture fund. The founders took it.

Elsewhere, Maya Nazareth's Alchemize Fightwear turned a $250,000 ask into a $300,000 three-shark deal with Lori, Alexis and Kendra after refusing to give up 20%. Stephen Longo's Orka Bar frozen protein bars won over the only shark still standing, Lori, at $100,000 for 25%. And Doug Evans of The Sprouting Company, a founder who had already sold a juice chain to KKR, drew matching $500,000 offers from Kevin and Daymond but refused to go above 10% equity and left without a deal.

Doug Evans, who previously built Organic Avenue to 12 New York locations and sold it to KKR, pitched a countertop sprouting system that turns a quarter cup of seeds into five cups of sprouts in five days using only water. He took up sprouting after moving near the Mojave Desert without access to fresh produce, and the business had done $1.5 million in revenue in about 18 months with a 21% net margin in its best month. Alexis Ohanian didn't see sprouts as mainstream yet, Kendra Scott said the check was too large for her, and Lori Greiner cited a crowded market. Kevin O'Leary offered $500,000 for 25% and Daymond John matched it, then the two proposed a joint deal at 12.5% each. Evans countered at 6.5%, wouldn't go above 10% total, and walked out without a deal.

Best Moment
“Kevin joked that Doug had become the 'sprout guy' of Shark Tank, and Evans walked out smiling after turning down two sharks and $500,000 rather than give up more than 10%.”

Maya Nazareth pitched Alchemize Fightwear, combat sports gear built for women: wrestling singlets with built-in sports bras, rash guards, leggings and jiu-jitsu gis with high necklines and secure fits. A jiu-jitsu practitioner of eight years, she launched the brand in 2020 after wardrobe malfunctions in matches nearly made her quit, and she has since been named to Forbes 30 Under 30. Sales were $1.8 million lifetime, with $875,000 projected for 2025. Kevin O'Leary questioned the $5 million valuation and Daymond John made no offer, but Lori Greiner and Alexis Ohanian teamed up at $250,000 for 20%. Maya countered at 10%, they asked for 15%, and Kendra Scott proposed joining as a third partner. The amount rose to $300,000 and Maya accepted 15% split three ways.

Best Moment
“Alexis pushed back on Kevin's valuation skepticism, arguing that a niche brand can justify a high price if it owns its category, and acknowledged that girls drop out of combat sports over something as basic as the lack of a sports bra.”

Stephen Longo of West Orange, New Jersey pitched Orka Bar, frozen high-protein bars with an egg-white-based creamy center and a dark chocolate shell, about 15 grams of protein and low sugar. A competitive beach volleyball player and nutrition coach, he built them for clients tired of choosing between chalky protein bars and sugary frozen desserts. Revenue was only $35,000 so far in 2025, with $80,000 projected. Daymond John called it the best product he had tasted in the category but went out over wholesale margins and refrigerated shipping, and Kevin O'Leary, Kendra Scott and Alexis Ohanian followed for being too early stage. Lori Greiner, calling herself the grocery queen, offered $100,000 for 33.3%. Stephen countered at 20%, then 22.5%, and Lori held at 25%, which he accepted.

Best Moment
“Daymond praised Orka Bar as the best product he had ever tasted in its category, then went out anyway, leaving Lori as the last shark standing.”

Mark Williams and Benton Miller walked in dressed as pilots to pitch RetrievAir, a pet-first public charter airline that flies dogs in the cabin beside their owners using modified 30-seat regional aircraft and private terminals. Williams founded Sunwing Airlines and sold it to WestJet for over $1 billion before coming out of retirement for this; Miller was repeatedly blocked from flying with his large dogs. The airline had $550,000 in ticket sales with roughly 133% month-over-month growth, but was burning about $80,000 a week at a 30% load factor. Kendra Scott and Lori Greiner went out over the burn rate, and Daymond John withdrew a $500,000 for 25% offer after hearing the losses. Kevin O'Leary offered $500,000 for 20%. Alexis Ohanian offered $500,000 for 15%, then raised his own number to $776,000 for the same 15%, and the founders accepted.

Best Moment
“Alexis Ohanian raised his own offer from $500,000 to $776,000 without being asked, a nod to his Seven Seven Six venture fund, in his first full episode as a shark.”
